Cherri Moonshine OP Adding more details since I'm getting allot of questions here.... I was living in this rv park since June.

The cat showed up over two months ago and was hanging out in the park. It's in a very remote area. The
via CherriMoonshine
park owners contacted the people in the trailer park nearby to see if the cat belonged to someone and he didn't. For two months
via CherriMoonshine
he was just hanging out at the park. Other people living there fed him and another couple was going to take him home on Friday. I didn't
via CherriMoonshine
get involved because I just recently lost my senior cat and wasn't ready for another yet. Sunday rolls around and it's 27 degrees and I'm the last person to leave so I took him with me.

I didn't check him for a microchip or anything like that yet because I was not planning to take him it just kinda happened. Where we
via CherriMoonshine
were living though there wasn't much in the area so I don't think he belongs to anyone. I'm not against getting him checked for a microchip and I can when I
via CherriMoonshine
get home. I didn't want to leave the cat in northern NY by Canada for the winter with no one around to feed him.

KrisseMai thank you for the additional info! it does sound like he was a stray and leaving him to fend for himself in the oftentimes brutal winter temperatures in the northern US definitely wouldn't have been a good idea.

Cherri Moonshine OP Haha I realize I left no context now that I am reading it. And yes, the Adirondacks are super cold. Already got some snow!

spaceglitter000 You did the right thing considering the circumstances. Def see if he has a chip when you can but at least he's safe with you from the elements right now.

Cherri Moonshine OP I will. I don't want to steal someone's cat. I honestly felt like I had to take him considering that no one else did. He was covered in ticks too. Poor guy.

Takilove I hope this is the first in a series of "Sunny and (Dog's** name) Paws Across America a travel log for animal lovers.

I think pet owners would love a guide to the best places that allow animals. I feel less anxious when I have my cats travel with me

** what is your adorable dog's name? I'm sure he/she will be a big deal during your travels!

Cherri Moonshine OP What a great idea! Cielita is my 80lb pit mix I rescued in Mexico and the little guy is Cowboy whom I rescued from the Navajo Nation in AZ. I also have 11 chickens
